Improved Residue Flow and Frame Strength Highlight New John Deere High-Speed Disk Series
Tillage solutions available in a variety of widths for all farm sizes
OLATHE, Kansas (Jan. 14, 2025) – John Deere (NYSE: DE) announced today the release of a new lineup of high-speed disks (HSD), a dual-season tool that will provide excellent field finish and residue management and comes autonomy ready from the factory. The new HSD line replaces the largest models from the 2680H series. Available in widths ranging from 25' to 45', there is a disk size that fits nearly any tractor and farm.
"The new John Deere high-speed disk series was designed with farmer input," said Michael Porter, John Deere go-to-market manager for tillage equipment. "Field preparation is a critical part of the production system and providing an opportunity for farmers to get the work done in a minimal amount of time is critical during post-harvest and pre-planting time periods."
Improved Residue Flow and Field Finish
For farmers looking to manage residue after harvest or prepare the seedbed, the new high-speed disk offers improved residue flow, helping reduce plugging in tough tillage conditions such as high field moisture or high residue situations. In the new model, an additional 4" was added between the disk and the finishing basket, providing better overall residue flow.
"By increasing the distance between disks and basket, we found the tool had better residue flow from previous models, leading to even better field finish in high-residue conditions," Porter said. "This allows the tools to be pulled up to 14 mph, allowing more acres to be covered in less time in tight weather windows. That's a game changer."
Precision Ag and Autonomy Ready
The high-speed disks will come autonomy ready in-base from the factory, helping farmers prepare for on-farm autonomy. The disk will come equipped from the factory with a receiver mast, harnessing, lighting package and TruSet™. A customer will just have to add a universal StarFire® 7500 Receiver to hook it to an autonomous tractor to implement autonomous tillage.
"With the autonomy ready in-base, we worked to overcome the barriers to autonomous operation," Porter said. "Providing the tool autonomy ready minimizes the hardware complexity so customers can get to autonomous work faster."
The release of the HSD is just one more in a line of autonomous ready tillage tools John Deere introduced in the last year. Additional autonomous ready tillage tools in the lineup include the coulter chisel (CC series), 2430 chisel plow, 5-section 2230 field cultivators and the 2660VT.
Enhanced Reliability
The new high-speed disk series comes with increased frame strength and a three-year frame warranty, providing improved reliability. Manufactured with 7" tubing helps reduce wing bounce and improves the overall frame strength. The tool includes durable cast pivot bushings with a 50% increased surface area, which are bolted on and sealed to protect from debris, providing easier maintenance.
"We heard from our customers that by changing the pivot bushings to a bolt-on format that it would make it easier for them to maintain and repair the tool," Porter said. "Customer input like that is critical to ensuring we are meeting their needs and finding ways to help improve their uptime."
Widths for Farmers of Any Size
The high-speed disk series comes in a variety of widths, ranging from 25' to 45'. For farmers who face more narrow roads and need a tool for narrow transport, the high-speed disk series offers the narrowest transport in the industry. Four options – HSD25, HSD29, HSD32 and HSD35 – fold up for a 13' transport.
For farmers looking to pull a larger implement, the HSD39, HSD42 and HSD45 fit the bill. These tools are available for transport at the standard 16'.
