Building boundaries for a prosperous future.
In the heart of Brooklyn, Wisconsin, a farming operation flourishes, driven by the promise of productivity and the unwavering principles that guide its owners. With the mission to be progressive and prosperous while holding close to their faith, Klondike Farms' owners Kevin and Erika Klahn know the value of creating a solid foundation.
For them, the groundwork of a successful farming year starts with a precise field boundary, which sets the stage for effective land management and optimal crop production.
Klondike Farms is a grain and custom farming operation. Farm manager Matt Marshall has worked with Klondike Farms for 30 years and works hard to keep up with advancing technology. Matt remembers when they had a 4-row planter his first year. Now they have five planters and utilize John Deere Operations Center™ and AutoPath™ (boundaries).
AutoPath (boundaries) guidance plans are fueled by accurate field boundaries. It makes it easy to start fieldwork with the perfect first pass, no matter who's in the driver's seat.
With the new "boundaries" mode, Matt can create AutoPath plans for every field during the off-season when things aren't as busy. He can do this within the Operations Center and easily transfer the plans to each machine when they are ready to work.
"We spend so much time on the road, moving equipment, AutoPath (boundaries) helps to speed up the time we are in the field," he explains. Matt says the technology has paid for itself with the time it saves their crew.
The combination of accurate field boundaries and AutoPath guidance plans drives confidence in a successful growing season. And the Klahns' three foundational principles of honesty, quality, and hard work take care of the rest. ‡
