Nothing is more important than keeping equipment running. And nothing supports that more than having the right connections. In a world of tight deadlines and increasing demands, equipment uptime is critical. John Deere Connected Support™ offers a solution that can help. With remote engine monitoring and unique predictive alert services, John Deere-powered equipment stays in prime working condition, resulting in optimal uptime.

At the European Roadshow in spring 2024, hosted by John Deere Power Systems (JDPS), more than 100 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers from seven countries learned firsthand about John Deere Connected Support. The response was overwhelmingly positive, especially in Austria — where a leading customer has already embraced this technology as an early adopter.

From reactive to proactive maintenance

John Deere Connected Support is a groundbreaking solution that uses advanced telematics technology to keep equipment running at peak performance. Acting as a comprehensive "wellness program," it integrates connectivity, data, analytics, and innovative digital tools to remotely monitor and diagnose any hardware or software issues on machines powered by John Deere engines. Plus, customers enjoy access to John Deere service network expertise and proactive support for their engines.

A key benefit is that it allows end users to shift from reactive to proactive maintenance by sending predictive alerts of potential engine concerns to the equipment owner's local JDPS distributor. This enables JDPS service technicians to diagnose and resolve issues before they escalate. Many engine trouble codes can be managed and resolved remotely. If a service call is required, technicians can arrive equipped with the necessary parts to keep the machine running, which can help reduce the frequency of technician visits.

"John Deere Connected Support has been operational on John Deere machines for years," explains Christophe Lebon, aftermarket project manager at JDPS. "With over 650,000 John Deere machines already connected, and based on the enthusiastic feedback received from OEM attendees throughout our European tour, we anticipate a substantial increase in adoption within OEM equipment this year."

Empowering equipment owners

The benefits of John Deere Connected Support extend far beyond proactive maintenance. It provides equipment owners with crucial information that can help them use their equipment or fleet more efficiently, such as data on fuel consumption. Additionally, location and geofencing services enhance logistics management and equipment security, triggering instant alerts if machines operate outside of owner-designated parameters or locations.

Rubble Master: A proactive pioneer

John Deere Connected Support can be a crucial differentiator for OEMs, as highlighted at the JDPS Roadshow in Europe this spring.

Markus Zachl, after sales manager of Rubble Master, recognized the system's potential to further enhance the company's engine maintenance and customer support.

"We consistently aim for our customers to achieve maximum productivity with our equipment and believe John Deere Connected Support can be a valuable addition to our own RM XSMART telematics solution," says Zachl. "It allows us to offer an even more comprehensive equipment performance package. At the same time, it gives us better visibility into how our customers are using the engine and our equipment. Plus, the practical benefits of remote monitoring and diagnostics translate into the more efficient use of our time-pressed technical teams."

Rubble Master tested John Deere Connected Support on a prototype crusher, the RM 100GO!, with a John Deere Stage V 9.0L industrial engine. Installation was straightforward, taking only two hours in the field.

"We're now encouraging our customers to upgrade their current John Deere-powered units with this solution," says Zachl.
